Peter Maguire

Born in Belfast, Peter Maguire plays flute and whistle. He learned music as a boy from his father Tommy (who was an accomplished accordion player) and then later turned to Sligo flute legend Seamus Tansey for musical tuition.  Peter moved to the United States in 1995 and has since gigged extensively throughout the country with top musicians including Tommy Peoples, Paddy Keenan, Tony DeMarco and Paddy O'Brien.  He now lives in Boston.  An inveterate collector and researcher, Peter has an impressive knowledge of Irish music's history and traditions in America.  His style is distinctive, percussive and highly ornamented.
